Open Grave Records might not have been around for very long but they have a very long and bright future ahead of them if they keep snatching up kick ass talented bands like Necrodemon!!! Forming in 1998 after the demise of vocalists Rob Elliotts previous band Lordes Werre (another killer band that didn't get the recognition it deserved!!!) Indiana's Necrodemon have released a handful of releases and finally see their new masterpiece of blackened/death thrash metal brought to the masses worldwide!!!! First things first this album won't be for everyone. No, it will probably only be enjoyed by those that have a true love of all things metal regardless of the genre tag. This isn't your run of the mill, metal by numbers, generic album of regurgitated blast beats and gurgles or squeals. Instead Necrodemon opt to actually stand out from most bands and shockingly do what others are afraid to try or do, they write actual songs!!!! In fact every song out of the eleven tracks on here are actual real songs!!! Nothing on here comes across as just another bunch of riffs thrown together for the sake of having one more song to make the album longer. Nope, no filler here. Just pure metal mixed with the best elements of thrash, death and black. The entire album is catchy as hell and will have you nodding your head the entire length of the album. Not one song is boring and even the instrumental track Frozen Sorceror - Chant of Making V is a song you will not want to skip over. Any fan of extreme metal should absolutely worship this album as it is what I would consider a classic release. The musicianship is top notch and the production is perfect. The only thing that I could say might hurt the band and keep them from gathering a larger fan base and the recognition they deserve are the vocals. I find them absolutely perfect and fitting as just like the music on display they are original and help make the album stand out that much more but I am sure some of the more close minded out there will disapprove of the more high end thrashy rasp that is used throughout a good portion of the album. But they mix so well with the death vocals and other voices that they shouldn't distract anyone from truly enjoying the music. Regardless if you are a fan of death or black or long for the days of thrash to finally return to the forefront of the scene with this album you honestly can do no wrong. Forget the trends and just listen to some kick ass metal and support a band that dares to be different in an overcrowded scene full of copycats.
