Interview with Ancient Sanctuary
By: Blissfulviolet
Blissfulviolet:  Hails how are things in El
Salvador?
Ancient Sanctuary:  Hails to you to my
friend, Right now things are going very
well.
Blissfulviolet:  Thanks for doing this
interview, what have you guys been up to?
Working on anything new?
Ancient Sanctuary:  Thanks to you
too, we are working on our debut album
right now that we want to release in
November or December, also we want to
make a live DVD from the shows we have had in 2006 and 2007.
Blissfulviolet:  Sounds good…Could you give us some background history on Ancient
Sanctuary?
Ancient Sanctuary:  The original idea of the band is from our guitarist Beleth.  In the
beginning we actually played Heavy Metal and then we evolved to play Melodic Black metal,
then with the changes of members we evolved to symphonic black metal.
Blissfulviolet:  Is black metal huge in your country? (Do you feel Ancient Sanctuary fits in with
other musical acts in your city?)
Ancient Sanctuary:  Well, black metal is actually the movement that has more fans in our
country, but the support is very limited to Metal in general.
Blissfulviolet:  So Ancient Sanctuary fits in well with the other musical acts in your city?
Ancient Sanctuary:  We have many fans but the limited space for our music makes it difficult
to make the scene huge. We also play various shows with different genres and the band has
really been accepted by the people that see us.
Blissfulviolet:  What made you guys decide to play black metal and what does this musical
form of art mean to you?
Ancient Sanctuary:  The first reason was because of the sound; suspense, terror, the dark
lyrics and the ambience of black metal made us decide to enter its world.  "Black metal is not
only music, it’s an art".
For Ancient Sanctuary, to play Black Metal is like to be part in a war against Christianity.  We
want to influence the people to open their eyes to the truth of religion, they kill our ancestors
and insert their fucking Jesus Christ in our culture, they burnt all the rest of the Mesoamerican
culture and for that we have to fight against those liars.
Blissfulviolet:  So I take it this is one of Ancient Sanctuary’s influences?
Ancient Sanctuary:  Most is the hatred of Christianity.  There is also Satanism, war, legends
and misanthropy…witchery too.  We also use a little of mythology.
Blissfulviolet:  How is this imagery presented in your songs?
Ancient Sanctuary:  History for most part, a history that we create in our minds and then
traduce that to the songs.  In them we have images of death, desolation, holocaust, wars,
apocalypse, witchery and other stuff.
Blissfulviolet:  Describe a live Ancient Sanctuary show?
Ancient Sanctuary:  It’s a very energetic show, theatrical and devastator, we want to make it
clear that we are in a war against the Christians and we love to play fast and hard to say that.
Blissfulviolet:  Where would you like to see Ancient
Sanctuary in a few years?
Ancient Sanctuary:  We would really like to see the
band with an album to present to the fans and also a
tour, because it is the only way that people will listen
to our message. We want to make conscience about
that bastard and his lies (Christians).
Blissfulviolet:  Thanks once again…any final
comments for our readers?
Ancient Sanctuary:  Well thanks for reading our
words and many thanks to you for taking the time to
do this interview with us.  We also want to thank all
the fans of Ancient Sanctuary for your support "thanks to all of you. You are in the Legions of
the Sanctuary".
Hailing from El Salvador, these guys unleash pure hatred.  Their wicked
tunes are worth your while.
