Interview with Angel Flesh
By: Blissfulviolet
Blissfulviolet:  I’ve always thought that Angel
Flesh was an interesting name. Is there a story
or meaning behind the bands name?
Angel Flesh:  Not really a big story behind the
name, it just sounds right for the music so we
stuck with it.
Blissfulviolet:  How did Angel Flesh come to
be? Give me some background history on the
band.
Angel Flesh:  Well it all started in 2002 from a
project with Morbid and Dusk which was called
Glewlwyd at the time. We were just jamming like always, and then PD heard something he
liked. He got on the drums and was playing these fast riffs that we really got off to (Deathcode)
and ever since then it's been Angel Flesh.
Blissfulviolet:  What inspires and influences Angel Flesh’s music?
Angel Flesh:  The other great Black Metal bands that we listen to, for example; Angantyr,
Obtained Enslavement, and Urgehal, you know stuff like that. That's what we base our music
off of, and of course Satan himself.
Blissfulviolet:  Your drummer who was inactive in the band for a while due to a motorcycle
accident (I think) has returned not too long ago. What has Angel Flesh been working on since
and how does it feel to have him back performing again?
Angel Flesh:  Yeah, it was a Motorcycle accident, he broke 2 bones which one was sticking
out of his arm, it was pretty fucking sick. When that happened we were set back for six months,
which gave us time to write new material guitar wise and Morbidusk was born. It’s great to have
Hell's hammers reign down on us again, but the time off was well needed.
Blissfulviolet:  Here is a question that I ask all
Texas based metal bands…What do you think
of the metal scene here?
Angel Flesh:  A few selected bands are
fucking amazing, don’t get me wrong but
everyone’s attitudes never left high school and
that’s fucking lame. We should all unite
together as one big underground scene, not at
each other's throats.
Blissfulviolet:  How do you guys distinguish
what material gets used for Angel Flesh and
Morbidusk when you’re creating music?
Angel Flesh:  Morbidusk is raw and more blast beats. Angel Flesh is more melodic and chilled.
Blissfulviolet:  Describe the sound of your music for those who are not familiar with your
bands sound.
Angel Flesh:  Melodic Black Metal.
Blissfulviolet:  What are some of the bands future plans for both Angel Flesh and Morbidusk?
Names run scarce when it comes to black metal bands in San Antonio.
Here’s one that is definitely worth checking out.
Angel Flesh:  Well we feel Morbidusk and Angel Flesh are two completely diffrent bands, and
as far as we are concerned this is an Angel Flesh interview. So in the future for Angel Flesh we
plan to just keep writing music and to share the stage with the bands we respect and look to
have a good time with.
Blissfulviolet:  Is Angel Flesh still searching
for a bassist?
Angel Flesh:  Ahhhh right now we are working
with a couple of people, so its not that big of a
concern anymore.
Blissfulviolet:  Thanks for taking the time for
this interview, got any final comments?
Angel Flesh:  Hail Satan, look for new
recordings and catch us at our next show.
