Marie RavenSoul: Greetings Lord Goatesque, how are you?
Lord Goatesque: Quite well, thank you.
Marie RavenSoul: You joined Artep this year as the drummer
and vocalist. What was the reason for this decision?
Lord Goatesque: I jumped at the opportunity to work with
Artep. She is the most talented female musician I have ever
seen.
Marie RavenSoul: Before you joined Artep, what were
some of the musical projects that you were involved with?
Lord Goatesque: I am still involved with several projects -
Ritual Demise (anti-human blackened death metal),
Vanquished (atmospheric hateful black metal),Adversarium
(misanthropic hateful black metal) and Hostium (black hateful
metal).
Marie RavenSoul: What have been some of your influences as a drummer?
Lord Goatesque: Nick Barker was a big influence as well as the drummer from the Swedish
black death metal band Dawn and Dissection.
Marie RavenSoul: As a Canadian myself, it is great to see Black Metal starting to make
some noise in Canada. How would you describe the Black Metal scene in Vancouver?
Lord Goatesque: What black metal scene? To be honest It's pathetic but I plan to change
that in the not so distant future.
Marie RavenSoul: What are some of the things that you like to do outside of Artep?
Lord Goatesque: All I do is play black/black death metal. It takes up all my time every day but
that is what keeps me sane.
Marie RavenSoul: What are some of your hopes for
the future?
Lord Goatesque: To put Vancouver on the map in the
black metal world.
Marie RavenSoul: Any last comments?
Lord Goatesque: Hail Artep, hail Adversarium, hail
Ritual Demise, hail Hostium.
Marie RavenSoul: Greetings Artep, how are you?
Artep: I am doing great! Thank you! Just got back from
LA today. Did a lot of promoting down there. I am stoked
about how many people in L.A. like Artep and all the
help was offered.
Marie RavenSoul: Congratulations on the release of
your new demo, Fires of Mortal Deception. What are
your feelings about its release? Where can it be
purchased?
Artep: I am very happy with it and with the printing company I chose. They were very helpful
and friendly. I will definitely use them again for the next release. The CD’s can be purchased
on my website. www.artepmetal.com
Marie RavenSoul: What was your motivation for creating Artep in 2006? You wrote 100
songs at this time; is there a basic theme for the lyrics?
Artep: I used to work up North for a Mining Company. I was the camp watch person. I was
alone most of the time - in the middle of nowhere. The only other people were a small group of
natives, miles away- all the way on the other side of Little Harrison Lake, so noise was not a
problem. I used to drag my amp outside and just blast it. It was a lot of fun. After saving a
bunch of money I decided to buy various recording gear just so I have something to do. I
ended up doing some serious writing. It became an addiction. I created Artep because people
really liked what they were hearing. I came back to Vancouver to build a band consisting of the
best musicians I could find. We as a team must either be the best or it's better to do nothing at
all. I am also attending school for Audio engineering and music production. I am almost done
now. The lyrics are definitely all true and real. The places named are real places, the stories
told are history and future. The interpretation is up to you. All lyrics are in the booklet, would
you like me send you a copy?

Marie RavenSoul: How would you describe your
sound and what makes it unique from other metal
bands?
Artep: I consider Artep to be a black metal band.
Emperor would be the band that sounds most like
Artep. Two great vocalists with raw vocals, lightning
fast speed followed by grim, atmospheric haunting
melodies, just enough synth to add a flavour to the
music, but does not dominate the overall sound.
Guitars are definitely the dominant instrument in
Artep. An amazing performance is what will set this
band apart from others. The show is something
everyone will want to see whether they are black
metal fans or not.
Marie RavenSoul: Your Myspace page says that you began playing instruments beginning
at 6 years of age; what was your inspiration? What was your reason for choosing the guitar as
your main instrument?
Artep: I always liked to play something. Loved noisy things even as a baby. . . I don't know
why. My mom’s best friend had a piano that I used to play. But guitar was definitely the most
fun and I liked the feel of it. It felt right. That's why it’s my favorite, and I am damn good at it
because I love it.
Marie RavenSoul: What have been some of your influences?
Artep: Emperor definitely stands out the most, but Enslaved, Windir, Sargeist, Taake, Dimmu,
Craft, Hate Forest, Opeth, Burzum, Mayhem, Abigor, Judas Iscariot, 1349, Pink Floyd,
Graveland, Gorgoroth, Phillip Glass, Satyricon all deserve a mention, and there are more, I
could be typing for a while.
Marie RavenSoul: Do you have any plans on touring
in the near future?
Artep: Yes I am already talking to people in the US and
Europe, in preparation for touring. But it will take a little
bit of time to set up for sure.
Marie RavenSoul: What are some of your hopes for
Artep?
Artep: To have fun writing more music, play flawless
shows, and hopefully catch the attention of a label that
will help us out with promotion, better recordings and
distribution.
Marie RavenSoul: Does Artep have a website?
Marie RavenSoul: Any final comments?
Artep: Hail brothers and sisters! Thanks for your support! Keep the Black Flames burning
high!!!
