When it comes to females in Extreme metal, names run scarce. So when I
encounter a female fronted black metal band, I welcome them. I welcome
them in hopes that they will bring forth something new to the table:
originality, creativity and total brutalism.
My latest discovery is the new Canadian based band, Artep. Their debut is
a demo entitled, ‘Fires of Mortal Deception’ and honestly this disc slays.
Although this CD only has 4 tracks, it is defiantly an eye opener of what is
yet to come. The production sounds great. You can hear every instrument
like it was intended to be. Artep’s guitar work and vocals are noteworthy
and the synth intro ‘Birth of the Anti-Christ’ is epic as fuck. Lord Goatesque
adds his mad drumming skills and vocals as well, taking Arteps sound to
another level. The overall CD is great fucking black meal and leaves you
with a huge question mark implanted on your brain…What a demo should
do, take listeners by the storm and have them anticipate the full length
album, nicely done guys.
