When I first heard Benatnash I was really taken away by how
vocalist Sali Ereshkigal portrays black metal. Her image
accompanies her voice and lyrics, which are raw, powerful and
can be melodic at the right time. Together, with the musical
compositions of Baal Taran and talents of Xava Anana, the band
successfully combines the atmosphere of both medieval themes
and black metal, which can be found on their latest release, War
Prophecies.
The production of War Prophecies is excellent; from the sound to
the cover and packaging of the CD, it professionally captures the
essence that Benatnash’s music invokes. It was also nice to find
the lyrics to the songs in the sleeve. Themes of ancient history,
mythology, war and humanity are a few of inspirations that run
throughout this album. The music I found, acts like a soundtrack
to further express these images.
Tracks that I found interesting are: Great Mother of Doom,
Benatnash, Into the Howl of Wood and From Eternal Glory.
