Interview with Mike Wyatt
By: Blissfulviolet
Mike Wyatt:  Killer ..couldn't be better.
Blissfulviolet:  You guys will be performing in San
Antonio, Texas next weekend. Are you guys hyped about
that?
Mike:  Yes we are actually. We tried to come out before
but the metalfest we were going to play was canceled.
Blissfulviolet:  Will this be Bound by Blasphemy’s first
Texas performance?
Mike:  Yes and hopefully there will be many more and
more surrounding cities.
Blissfulviolet:  What shall one expect at a live Bound by
Blasphemy show?
Mike:  Brutal death with a mix of black metal thrown in.
We are trying to incorporate those styles as to not sound
like typical brutal death.
Blissfulviolet:  For those who are unaware of Bound by
Blasphemy, could you give me some background history?
Mike:  Bound by Blasphemy started in mid 2004, after the breaking up of Tucson’s death metal legends
Inebrium and Genocaust. Only after 4 months of being together, a four song demo,
The Rebirth Of
Sickness
was recorded and shortly there after BBB went on and did a couple of dates in California.
Things went crazy for a while and there was massive member changes, until Dean and myself figured
out that we fit best in a band together..then along came Gibil on bass and Adan on vocals and
everything fell into place. Adan unfortunately quit when the album was released, which almost screwed
us pretty hard...Luckily we had a second guitarist in the band who sang for a local black metal band and
he switched over to vocals. Malicya has been a big improvement to our vocal department. Originally
working a deal with Qabalah Productions (which who later screwed the band and delayed the release of
The Apocalypse Is Nigh for over a year) then later working the current deal with Grotesque who is
getting the job done properly.
Blissfulviolet:  Describe your band and music using one word.
Mike:  Grotesque.
Blissfulviolet:  You guys have some awesome shows lined up with some killer bands, taking place in
your bands hometown of Tucson, Arizona. So what’s the metal scene like there?
Mike:  The metal scene has potential out here in Tucson..there are some good bands like Sanity in
Death and Saphead , Sarafan can grind also.
Blissfulviolet:  And how does your city
embrace your music?
Mike:  Here's where it gets nasty, there are
2 main promoters in town besides an
occasional show I might do here and there
and one promoter has our back while the
other is in a Black Dahlia clone metalcore
band. The one in the metalcore band books
a lot of sick acts Beneath the Massacre,
Braindrill, Sleep Terror..Do we get to play
any of these shows?  Hell no.  Here we are
signed and about to be the next band rippin
Tucson and he books his band on every
fucking show..They have played out about
25-30 times at every show in the past year
and we are lucky to play the hometown
about twice a year.  So we focus on playing
Phoenix more. I wish things could be different because we have a lot of people wanting to see us in the
hometown more often.
Blissfulviolet:  I was checking out the cover art to your bands debut album back in 2006, Apocalypse is
Nigh
. It’s interesting and amusing at the same time. Who did the cover art for you guys?
Mike:  That would be Dean(guitarist).  He is a graduate from a art/design college.  He also produces our
albums.  We call him Dr. Dean.  Funny thing you mention the 2006 release of
The Apocalypse Is Nigh,
we totally got fucked by Qabalah Productions (the label Infamy was on). That guy is a joke now.  So the
album that was recorded 2 years ago and just released thanks to Juan and Grotesque, a real label that
has been doing the job proper.  The album finally got released on 4/ 20 /07.
Blissfulviolet:  What has been in the works for the future of Bound by Blasphemy?
Mike:  Well, we have half the new album written already..So by the winter we will most likely record the
second full length.  We want to start touring as much as possible, we just don't know all the promoters to
contact nationally and internationally.
Blissfulviolet:  Any final comments?
Mike:  Keep it brutal and dark, and like I just mentioned..We want to tour and are a D.I.Y band, so
promoters if you like what you hear from us..book us. Contact us through our myspace at
www.myspace.com/boundbyblasphemy. And thank you for the interview.
Bound by Blasphemy has been creating diverse brutal death/black influenced metal
since 2004.  Hailing from Arizona, the band has been working on material for their
new upcoming album and plans to tour soon.
Blissfulviolet:  Fuck it’s been a while, but finally this interview is happening. So how are things going
on your end?
