Interview with Frank
By: Blissfulviolet
This is the part of my job that I enjoy best…Discovering new bands that kick ass.  I was able to
catch Deranged Euphoria live in their hometown of Houston, Texas and I must say they were
truly impressive.  They have a unique sound and their lyrics were definitely expressed with
their music.  Thanks to guitarist/vocalist Frank for giving me more insight into Deranged
Euphoria.
Blissfulviolet:  Tell me more about Deranged Euphoria. How did the band get together and how long has the
band been around?
Frank:  Steve and I used to be in another local band called Ashes of Misery from 1998 to 2002. We recorded a
four song demo and played around Houston for a while. Then everything just fell to shit. We decided to start a
band as a hobby, nothing we took too seriously. For about two years we fucked around and wrote our first three
songs which turned out to be the songs we recorded for the "Chaos Arising" demo late last year. Then for the
next two years we really didn't do anything. After growing tired of pursuing other endeavors we decided in mid
2006 to go ahead with Deranged Euphoria.
Blissfulviolet:  I’ve noticed that since then you guys have had some members come and go?
Frank:  We have had another guitar player, Elric, leave the band for personal reasons and a bass player, Zebb,
leave the band twice now.
Blissfulviolet:  Deranged Euphoria is an interesting
name for a band. How do you feel the name
Deranged Euphoria identifies with the bands lyrical
and musical content?
Frank:  It identifies with the content really well I think.
It would take a while to explain here. I don't want to
bore your readers, so let's just say I have a lot of
fucked up thoughts and I feel quite good about
having them. Our music is definitely a reflection of my
soul.
Blissfulviolet:  You guys have an interesting sound,
one that I don’t normally come across from Texas
based bands. What would you say inspires and
influences the band?
Frank:  We are influenced by metal music of course and Steve is also heavily influenced by classical and dark
ambient music as well. Inspiration comes from many different sources. History is a big inspiration to what we do as
well as what is going on in the world right now.
Blissfulviolet:  How would you describe your bands sound?
Frank:  Different. Metal. That's all I got.
Blissfulviolet:  I was able to check out one of your performances at the White Swan in Houston, Texas…and I
must say that Deranged Euphoria put on a great show. I noticed the synth player also working the drum machine.
It looked pretty difficult but amazingly he did an excellent job. Is this added effect part of Deranged Euphoria’s
sound or will the band later seek a live drummer?
Frank:  Thanks a lot. Steve has a lot of shit to do on stage right now. Between setting up two boards for sounds
in the songs, a third board that has the drum tracks on it and a sampler, he has his hands pretty full right now. We
are going to get another drum machine so I can have it by me to start the drum tracks and take some of the load
off of him. About the drum situation, the way we are looking at it is if someone comes along that can play it, have
their shit together and get along with the rest of us, then we'll consider having a drummer. We realize we are
losing a little bit of stage presence without a drummer, but I don't know of many who would be able to pull the
drum parts off. Besides, it's kind of nice not having to deal with another human being. Not having the limits of a
human drummer helps with some of the faster songs that we play as well.
Blissfulviolet:  Is the band currently working on new
material? What goals has the band set for the rest of
2007?
Frank:  Yes we are currently writing new material. It's
coming along quite well. Now that it is just Steve and I
again, things are moving along a lot faster now. We have
a bunch of new material that we are working on. As for
the rest of the year we're just going to play some gigs
here and there, maybe find another guitarist and bassist
that will dedicate themselves and start recording our first
full length before the end of the year.
Blissfulviolet:  Sounds good.  Where would you like to
see Deranged Euphoria headed?
Frank:  Where ever it may. I am more concerned with creating music that challenges us as well as the listener.
Blissfulviolet:  Any final comments?
Frank:  Thanks for the interview. We are ready to have a good fucking time. We'll play with anybody regardless of
"sub-genre" they consider themselves. Any bands that happen to be reading this that are interested in sharing
the stage with us can go to
