Josteinn: Morfeus, you have been in the
Norwegian scene for quite sometime
creating very unique and dark music. This
other project of yours has its own creativity
and dark essence to it. What inspired you
to form Dimension F3h?
Interview with Morfeus By: Josteinn

Morfeus: The main reason was simply to
start something that was a little different
from what I had been doing before with
Limbonic Art. Initially it was just supposed
to be a solo-project with ambient/industrial
dark grooves and atmospheres. I went on
with it like that for quite a while before I
realized that I had to have some guitars in
there. As the guitars progressed I realized that I also would need to get hold of a vocalist and a
drummer, and thus the whole thing turned out more like an ordinary band in the end.
Josteinn: How often does Dimension F3h play shows and what performance do you feel the
band did best?
Morfeus: Well, we haven’t played too many shows yet, they keep ticking in tho, but not too
much. That is however a situation that we are working on changing. We are currently working
to get a proper booking agent that can help us take care of that, as well as book as many
shows as possible ourselves. So far it has been mostly local shows here and there in Norway
and one gig in Holland, the Hub&Heuy festival, and I guess the highlight in our career was the
opening show on the Hove festival in Norway earlier this summer, alongside bands like Gojira,
Chimaira and Lamb of God. I think we pulled that show off pretty well, and it felt really good
afterwards…
Josteinn: What are your opinions on the current Extreme Metal scene in general?
Morfeus: I’m not much into the ‘scene’ at all, I am too occupied with my own workings to be
paying much attention to anything else. I don’t read much magazines and so on, mainly just a
few websites that I keep track of every now and then. It is just a matter of time really, I wish the
day would have quite a few more hours so I could have more time. Yet, I gotta make the most
out of what I have time for so, paying attention to the scene isn’t one of my priorities. I might
miss a lot of good stuff, but then again, I don’t know what I miss, so it isn’t really a loss is it..?
Josteinn: What are your most preferred songs to perform on stage?
Morfeus: Oooh, hard question, at least we have the most fun when we see that the audience
is having a good time, it doesn’t really matter too much what song it is. And there are also
songs that can really be a bore to play at the rehearsals, but when you get out onstage and
play them, and you feel the energy from the crowd, then it is totally awesome to play even the
most boring song. It can also be the totally opposite situation, the songs that you love to play
doesn’t necessarily go well with the crowd, and if the crowd isn’t into it, then it is a drag to play.
It is always a game of chance, audiences are different from place to place too, so our only
choice is to select a set that we believe in, and then hope that it will do fine. :D
Josteinn: Lyrically, what are Dimension F3h's songs about?
Morfeus: Our lyrics deal with a lot of different subjects, everything from sex to war to insanity.
However I guess I have to say that all of them deals with the darker and less sane parts of life
and the world, probably things that I think and reflect about, and some songs are purely
fictional too. Well, most of the songs are pure fiction of course, but probably rooted in some
dark reality…
Josteinn: What does this project do for you that
Limbonic Art does not if you do not mind me asking?
Morfeus: This is mine. I’m pretty dictatorish in
Dimension F3H. The whole setting is also completely
different from my point of view compared to Limbonic
Art. It is far less extreme, in a certain way at least. It is
kinda hard to describe, the music that I make both for
Limbonic Art and Dimension F3H just clicks into the right
spot so to say. I can make something and instantly know
that this suits Limbonic Art, or this suits Dimension F3H,
and then just continue to build upon that. Also I have the
liberty of not having to compromise anything at all in
Dimension F3H, as opposed to Limbonic Art.
Josteinn: Do you have any other projects you are
planning for the future?
Morfeus: Not as in other bands or something like that,
but we are well on our way in writing the next Dimension
F3H album. We had a lot of time on our hands while
waiting for the release of Does the Pain Excite you? and
mainly spent that time writing new material, I guess we
have something like 13-14 songs that are basically
ready, they need a little tinkering here and there, lyrics need to be written, but I think that
sometime this autumn, probably October, we will be hitting the studio again, to record the third
album.
Josteinn: Any possibilities for Dimension F3h to perform in the states?
Morfeus: Anything is possible. We would sure like to go, so I guess it is just up to us to get
the promoters to want us, for the album to sell, which I hope it will, and if we can get that to
happen, we are there in a second!!
Josteinn: Just to name a few, what are some of your favorite Metal bands?
Morfeus: Hmmm, I like many bands, there are some that has been with me like forever, like
Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth and so on, but also newer bands like Nile,
Behemoth, that kind of stuff. It is hard to point out favorites really, cause I am very genre
independent, and there are so many good bands that play totally different music. I’d like to
mention a band that I really love, yet they haven’t even released anything at all yet. The band
is also basically a solo-project from a guy in England, and it is called TesseracT, now if this
guy could just get his ass moving and get an album out.. hehe.. Awesome stuff tho, worth
checking out.
Josteinn: Finally, what musical goals do you feel you have accomplished through the years
and what goals would you be satisfied to accomplish with your music in the future?
Morfeus: Hmmm, I have accomplished a lot, much more than I have ever anticipated doing.
First and foremost my only goal has ever been to make music, as I would want music to sound,
and to the best of my ability. This is a goal that I have achieved, and yet I haven’t, cause this
goal will update itself again and again. I dread the day that this goal doesn’t update, cause
then I will know that I am at the end of the ride, and I’m not ready for that by a longshot. There
will always be dreams about playing at a certain stage, to nail a certain solo, or getting hold of
that new awesome guitar, but these are always secondary goals, the main goal is to write
music that I feel is better than what I have been writing before. I’m glad I can already look back
at my ‘career’ and see that I have improved, and I have had setbacks too, but been able to
come back with better stuff again after that, so I kinda know that I’m not totally dead yet, as a
composer. This is my goal, get better. Not necessarily technically, but to compose stuff that I
personally feel is better than what I have done earlier. It is a goal I will never reach. Hopefully….
Dimension F3h is a creation from the mind of Morfeus (Limbonic Art). The
band released their 2nd studio album entitled ‘Does the Pain Excite You?’
in June of 2007. Awesome Bladerunner thrash that you must check out.
