Interview with Deadly Kristin
By: Blissfulviolet
Blissfulviolet:  Greetings Deadly Kristin, how are and
things in Sweden?
Deadly Kristin:  Hello to you! Everything is good, thanks!
Blissfulviolet:  Thanks for doing this interview. You have
an interesting musical background and are involved in a
few projects. Please introduce yourself to our readers that
might not be familiar with whom you are.
Deadly Kristin:  I used to be the female vocalist for the
legendary black metal band Ancient (Metal Blade
Records). I say legendary because Ancient was truly one
of the pioneers of Black metal, being one of the first bands
in the world daring to play this new extreme style back in
Norway in 1992. I joined Ancient in 1998 and left them
unwillingly after I moved to Sweden in 2004. With them I
recorded several albums and a music video and toured all over Europe. In 1999 I formed a
horror gothic project with Aphazel of Ancient called "Dreamlile Horror". In 2005 we released an
album with this project with the title "Delightful Suicides" for the greek label Sleaszy Rider
Records. At the moment Dreamlike Horror and my new sufi electro band Analogue Fakir are
my main projects. Many people seem to think that I am just a pretty vocalist, but actually I
compose both lyrics and music for my projects. On another note I am also a TV and radio
presenter and a language teacher with a interpreter/translator degree.
Blissfulviolet:  You have openly embraced Muslim religion and have been given the name
“Hayam Nur as Sufi.”  How did this come about and what does this name mean?
Deadly Kristin:  Oh it is a really long story on how I became a Muslim. To tell it in a few words I
wasn’t looking for a religion, but I was always very interested in existential topics and I was
obsessed in my search for the Truth that could unveil the mysteries of life and after life. I spent
years studying all kinds of sciences and philosophies and I started to draw my own
conclusions. When I met my husband who already was a Muslim and some other Muslim
friends we started to talk about all these things and by talking to them I saw that the way Islam
explains the meaning of life, after life and our existence was very similar to all the theories I
had elaborated myself. I found all the answers I needed in Islam and what really did it was the
undisputable scientific facts contained in the Qur'an, which modern science has just proved
being correct and now I have no doubt in my heart that it is the truth, therefore I just had to
embrace Islam and become Muslim.
Deadly Kristin:  Yes "Delightful Suicides" is a very sinister album with incredibly intense
atmospheres. My conversion to Islam definitely changed my outlook on life, giving it a different
perspective. Let's say in the next album I will definitely not praise suicide as liberation as now I
know what suicide really means in the afterlife, not liberation but eternal damnation. But the
lyrics and music of the album will still be creepy and dark, because that is what Dreamlike
Horror is about, to face what you don’t like, to dig up all the fears and obsessions buried in the
subconscious.
Blissfulviolet:  Glad to hear this.  Tell us about your lyrical writing style. What inspires your
lyrics and poetry?
Deadly Kristin:  I find inspiration within myself. By looking inside me and trying to analyze what
provokes my certain emotions and fears. I always found the unknown very appealing, I am very
inspired by the exploration of the real of the unseen, of the mysteries contained in our mind
and heart, by the souls of people, by all that comes after death and all that was there before
we were born. I like to explore things from all different angles and by that I mean angles seen
by inhuman eyes.
Blissfulviolet:  Do you have any female vocalist or musicians that you admire? If so could you
name them?
Deadly Kristin:  Umm, I don’t really admire anyone as far as female musicians, but I like the
vocal style of Nawal Al Zoghby and some of Shakira’s hip moves.
Blissfulviolet:  It sounds almost like a fairy tale of how
you met your husband and got involved with Analogue
Fakir.  What do you enjoy the most about being part of
this project?
Deadly Kristin:  Rather than a fairytale it was like a
crazy rollercoaster of events and emotions, a true
adventure. We had some crazy times; I love him more
than ever now. What I enjoy the most of Analogue Fakir
is that it is a kind of music that is new to me, a totally new
adventure in unknown territory, a challenge to myself to
see me perform on brand new tones and melodies. I love
the music we do! I have done electronica before but
never of this kind and never this atmospheric and
unique, capable of awakening so many feelings and
emotions inside...but that is because of our sufi spirit!
Blissfulviolet:  What does Deadly Kristin enjoy doing
outside of music?
Deadly Kristin:  I enjoy traveling a lot, doing my radio program, taking pictures, doing my own
graphics and layout, learning foreign languages and talking to intellectual people. Oh and I
love films. I always enjoy watching good films cuddled up on the couch wrapped in a warm
blanket with a hot cup of tea.
Blissfulviolet:  Describe yourself using one word.
Deadly Kristin:  HayamNurassufi.
Blissfulviolet:  What are some dreams or goals that you would like to accomplish in the near
future?
Deadly Kristin:  Become a mother of a lovely child, expand my music projects reaching a
wider audience with more albums, videos and touring.
Blisfulviolet:  Thanks once again for doing this interview. Do you have any final comments for
you wish to tell our readers?
Deadly Kristin:  Thanks to you for the support. Keep checking
www.myspace.com/deadlykristin as all my projects and news are always posted on that
site. Seek the truth, be yourself not like everyone else.
Peace!
Hayam/ DK xxx
Dreamlike Horror spawned from the unpredictably beautiful Deadly Kristin.
Her music radiates a horrific and mystical ambience that is truly intriguing.

My beautiful name Hayam Nur as Sufi is an arabic name. Hayam means deliriously in love,
delirious passion and desire....hayam is also described in Arabic like the condition of a thirsty
wanderer in the desert desperately searching for water.... Nur is the divine Light of Allah (God)
and as sufi, means the Sufi. Many Arabs interpret my name like Passionate Love for divine
enlightment...or simply, Hayam the divine Light of the sufi.
Blissfulviolet:  Not so long ago Aphazel decided to
leave Dreamlike Horror and you have decided to
continue the project. What type of plans do you have for
the future of Dreamlike Horror?
Deadly Kristin:  Yes he has taken this unfortunate
decision. I am very sad about it but not unmotivated. I
understand him in a way, because we haven’t met for a
long time since we live in two countries very far away
from each other. I have a lot of inspiration, in fact I just
bought myself a new keyboard and I just started laying
down the ideas for a new Dreamlike Horror album. I have
updated our dreamlilehorror.com site and our myspace
site with both news and new graphics. I am very
enthusiastic about Dreamlike Horror and the future of
this project. I definitely plan on recruiting new musicians to work with and transform it into a live
act so we can take the project on tour all over.
Blissfulviolet:  When I first heard Dreamlike Horror a while back, I was impressed with the
sound, lyrics and originality. “Delightful Suicides” is a very dark album and has a sinister like
feel to it. Will your recent conversion to Muslim affect the style and lyrics of the future
Dreamlike Horror?
