Marie RavenSoul:  Hello Droom, how are you?
Droom:  Hello.
Marie RavenSoul:  Congratulations on your
upcoming release later this year; a collaboration of
unreleased songs by both Droomstyyg and Hills of
Sefiroth. How did it come about that you would work
with Hills of Sefiroth in this way? Since copies will be
limited to approximately 100 CD's, can you tell us
where they can be purchased?
Droom:  One of the very few people I respect in this
world, T.G. ALLISON, recommended that we do a
split together and that we use some of his (T.G.'s)
amazing photography as the artwork. I had actually
been a big fan of Hills of Sefiroth, so I was extremely
interested.
Marie RavenSoul:  Can you tell us something
about Droomstyyg? What is its history?
Droom:  Droomstyyg is and always will be myself,
Droom. DROOMSTYYG stands for hatred, pride, and solitude. Droomstyyg creates archaic
black metal. I have always made music as a teenager, but never fully started recording until
2003. Around 2004, I started passing out demos free to anyone, and have done so up until
recently. I started playing live during 2005, but stopped in 2007. I will probably play live again
when I move and find live session musicians.
Marie RavenSoul:  You play all the instruments for Droomstyyg and you are also the singer.
How do you manage all of this?
Droom:  Yes, I record everything myself. I start with the drums with my old roland electronic
drum kit. Then I add guitar part after guitar part. Then I record the vocals. However, I write and
practice songs everyday, playing guitar and screaming alone in solitude and darkness.
Marie RavenSoul:  You describe your music as Archaic Black Metal, could you describe what
that means for those who don't know?
Droom:  Sure. Archaic black metal to me is music that is primitive, cold, hateful, and
atmospheric. I use the term "archaic" to seperate myself from all the newer "flavor of the
month" sounds. I make the music that I want to hear, not what is popular or new.
Marie RavenSoul:  How long have you been involved in music?
Droom:  I've been listening to metal before I was a teenager. I started making music in my
teens but took a hiatus until 2003. I've been crafting archaic black metal in one way or another
ever since then.
Marie RavenSoul:  Do you find that your religious beliefs have a big influence on your lyrics?
Droom:  I am against religion. I think people should believe in themselves and not religion or
some god. As a side note, ever since I was 6, I was always interested in the man-made concept
of the devil. I was always interested in how man was able to create the notion of the original
rebel, an eternal adversary. I always studied the devil in literature, art, culture, and theology. I
could relate to the devil throughout my life. I do not worship the devil, as I wouldn't worship a
fictional character like santa claus or Nessie the lock ness monster. Nevertheless, I have
tattoos depicting the devil in classical, medieval, and renaissance art because I am influenced
by the concept of rebellion, individualism, and blasphemy.
Marie RavenSoul:  On your MySpace page it states
that Droomstyyg stands for hatred, pride and
solitude. Would you elaborate on why these things
are important to you?
Droom:  These are the feelings that matter most to
me. Hatred and pride are the emotions that make
humans "human". Solitude is important to me and is
a main source of happiness to me.
Marie RavenSoul:  What are some of your
influences?
Droom:  I am influenced by myself, first and
foremost. Aristotle is a literal influence of mine, as
while most of his reasoning is at best obsolete by
todays standards, at least he was willing to ask,
search, and provide a standard to knowledge and
logic. Musically, I have a varied but firm set of
influences. Moonblood, Vlad Tepes, Devastation,
Taake, Peordh, Nortt, Demoncy, and Judas Isacariot
are probably my favorite bands, along with other
obscure artists. I recommend people listen to all these great bands.
Marie RavenSoul:  What is your opinion of the Black Metal scene as it is now? What would
you like to see it become?
Droom:  Well, in my opinion, I see a lot of new bands springing up playing black metal. When
listening to their music, however, I find that it is unoriginal, or simply lacks the characteristics I
am interested in. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of great undiscovered black metal acts,
even here on myspace. Some of these great acts are DEAD MOUNTAIN, KORMETH, THY
PLAGUES, RAVENCULT, ABYSSGALE and many more. I guess the problem is that you really
have to search through a lot of bland acts to find some spectacular ones, but I think its worth it
for the bands mentioned above.
Marie RavenSoul:  Do you have any plans on touring in the near future?
Droom:  Yes, but that is in the future, not anytime soon.
Marie RavenSoul:  What are some of your hopes for Droomstyyg?
Droom:  I hope to continue making music that people hate.
Marie RavenSoul:  What are some of your interests and hobbies outside of music?
Droom:  I don't really have time outside of music and work. If I’m not at work, I’m either
practicing, writing, or listening to music; alone, as always, of course.
Marie RavenSoul:  Any lasts comments?
Droom:  Thank you for conducting this interview. Droomstyyg has and always will continue to
make the music I want to make, regardless if anyone likes or hates it.
