EBONMORTIS - RECONSTRUCTION BY FORCE

2007 - Rotting Corpse Records
Review by: RR-336
Ebonmortis is a band personified by brutality. Another hell-spawn from
the extreme Illinois metal underground, this is a band that is planning to
reconstruct how you view the underground by the unmerciful force of
their brutality.

The production of this record is absolutely phenomenal. After giving
this many listens I can definitely tell this was recorded with much care. I
don’t normally do this but I must plug the studio who is credited in the
booklet. So to the folks at Karma Studios in Richmond, VA and those
who really worked hard on this, good job. It just had to be mentioned.
This band is difficult to label as one type of style because it appears
that they are blending different styles into their unique blend of extreme
metal. You can hear plenty of black and death metal influences in there
but there are also some hardcore roots that can be heard as well.

This sounds as if Pantera ever made a black/death metal record this
might be it. The drums are brutal and keep everything changing with
the multiple changes in the songs. It is very important to the songs in
this record for this drummer to be as good as he is. As for the guitar
work, nothing extremely fancy but every riff put into these songs is very
strong and powerful. No dull, boring, riffs like in other types of music.
Every part keeps you wanting to listen some more. The vocalist of this
band does a great job of mixing in different styles, giving him a very
unique voice and adding to the greatness of this recording. He does
such a great job that it sounds like there are many singers singing
different parts.

This is definitely a must have album for anyone who is into quality metal
music. There is not a lot of quality in the underground with many trying
to be faster or more evil than the next but this band definitely gets it
and they do an amazing job of being themselves and making quality
heavy music.
