MidKnight Damaelle:  Greetings from
Texas! Congratulations on your newest
album.
Claudio Alcara:  Thank you very much.
"Another Face Of Hell" is our most
important album up to date, the most
complex and mature. Still is an album of
songs, where feelings are still there. Our
albums are and will always be about
songs, we just try to express the world we
have within the best we can.
MidKnight Damaelle:  As a guitarist, what were your influences growing up?
Claudio:  When I started playing guitar I wanted to grow up my own style… At first I just begun
playing along with the “Black Sabbath” and “Paranoid”, I can actually play both albums from
the beginning to the end, ahah, so I would say Tony Iommi… Also, Jerry Cantrell had a big
influence on me, with his “huge” Les Paul sound. I would like to give the 3rd place to Andy
LaRocque, just because I am a King Diamond fan, but he’s definitely too good… Anyway, what
I like the most is the simple stuff, solos you can remember, which really give something to a
song. Anyway I never studied anything, all that you hear is simply what I have through my mind.
MidKnight Damaelle:  What is your rig?
Claudio:  I have a 1967 Fender-Mustang, with a really troubled story behind. If ever
instruments had souls, this guitar of mine definitely has one.
MidKnight Damaelle:  How (if at all) did your upbringing influence your music?
Claudio:  Well, my life has been pretty fucked-up since the beginning. Moreover, I live in a
dark, cold and gloomy city, where people try to/kill themselves all the times. This for sure has
an effect on me. I lived here for so many years that I am somehow stuck in this place, and it’s
like my music is the vision of this town. People may think that Italy is a nice sunny place… well,
think again.
MidKnight Damaelle:  What has so far been your most memorable moment as a guitarist with
Frostmoon Eclipse?
Claudio:  Maybe our Spanish Tour, back in 2004. Two great gigs played, and many great
guys met. Of course there are many other gigs I am pleased to remember, and all in all I am
proud of every release of ours. You won’t make a living just playing in a band like this, still you
can feel someone likes what you do and you have to pay respect to these people.
MidKnight Damaelle:  Who does most of the
writing of your music and why?
Claudio:  I write the 100% of the music, this way
it fits better, it seems. Of course we arrange the
songs as a band, so everyone is able to add his
special touch. I mean, listen to our bass player,
he has such a unique style… you can’t find
anyone similar in any Italian BM band.
MidKnight Damaelle:  How has being from Italy
helped you succeed musically?
Claudio:  It’s a very big problem for a band to come from Italy. If you are from Italy out there
they will just laugh at you, and in most of the cases, they’d be right. I am not complaining, it
would be no point, but I am just telling what is my truth. I just hope there’s still someone
listening to the music and not looking at driver’s licenses.
MidKnight Damaelle:  What are your plans for expansion in the near future?
Claudio:  We’ll do new T-shirts and the digibook A5 release of “Another Face Of Hell” is soon
to be out as well. We’ll take part in the God Is Myth rec. “Lovecraft” series, and by then I think it
would be time to think about the next album. It has to be another step forward and I’ve been so
satisfied with “Another Face Of Hell” that it would be a challenge to write proper songs this
time…
MidKnight Damaelle:  A message for your fans?
Claudio:  Give “Another Face Of Hell” a chance, even if I know there are so many records
coming out everyday… And, of course, life is nothing.
MidKnight Damaelle:  One silly question: Vampires vs. Werewolves; who would win?
Claudio:  Vampires always have a lot of women around, while I’ve never seen any she-
werewolves: maybe vampires are smarter, and they could make it.

Black Metal with an acoustic touch.  Frostmoon Eclipse hails from Italy and
has recently released their 4th studio album, ‘Another Face of Hell,’ a band
and album definitely worth checking out.
