Interview with Slutti666
By: Blissfulviolet
Blissfulviolet:  Greetings Sluti666,
how are you and things in Finland?
Slutti666:  Finally starting to feel like a
human again. We had our album
release show on Saturday and we
partied hard!
Blissfulviolet:  Impaled Nazarene's
10th studio album
Manifest is now out
in Europe, when will we see it hit the
US? Will
Manifest be released in vinyl
as well?
Slutti666:  This is the info I got directly
from Osmose, our European label. Manifest is licensed to Red Stream and should be out within
two or three weeks at latest. I have no idea why Red Stream is not advertising it on their
website. Anyway, most important thing is that it will be out as licensed product for North
America. Manifest does come out double 10" vinyl. It is slightly delayed but will come out in
November. It looks bloody killer, different lay-out and vinyl rules over CD 666%.
Blissfulviolet:  Explain why you have chosen the name "Manifest" as the title to this album?
Slutti666:  We wanted to have a one word title that has no special meanings. Nobody can
make any pseudo-political conclusions from Manifest. Of course, here in Europe, uneducated
journalists have mistaken manifest with manifesto. There have been some really irritating
interviews, trying to explain that it is a different word.
Blissfulviolet:  I have read that lyrically this album deals with all the bullshit that you guys
have faced the last couple of years.  Do you feel this album worked as some sort of remedy to
release your past tensions or hatred?
Slutti666:  We faced so much bullshit last year (especially) that indeed this album needed to
be that way. Somebody asked me don’t I give then too much credit to those who oppose us
when I do this. When I started writing lyrics for Manifest, I did think at the beginning maybe I
should just ignore all crap and write about something else. But then I just thought fuck this, I
need to get this out of my system.
Blissfulviolet:  Musically how would you say Manifest differs from previous Impaled Nazarene
releases?
Slutti666:  This is more dynamic, better played, better produced album than previous stuff.
Basically this album has all the best parts of previous albums.
Blissfulviolet:  Does the band plan on touring in support of the
Manifest album? And if so will you plan on touring in the US this
time around?
Slutti666:  Well, here is a bit hard question. We are not sure can
we or can we not perform in Germany for example. This restricts
touring plans pretty much as Germany happens to be THE major
market in Europe. So we are basically "on-hold" with all touring
plans and hope to score; meanwhile lots of weekend shows all
over Europe and festivals as well. As for USA, well, how can I put
this nicely? Basically we have been offered tours with such
fucking shitty conditions that there is no way we can do it. That´s
the curse of being a small ug band. We get tons of mail from
North America so there is demand but so far all the offers have
sucked ass.
Blissfulviolet:  Anything else Impaled Nazarene fans should be
on the look out for?
Slutti666:  There will be  remastered  Latex Cult  with live bonus tracks and totally new lay-out
coming next year. We will also release both Tol Cormpt Norz Norz Norz and Ugra-Karma as
double 10" vinyl with tons of live tracks on them as a bonus disk; totally rare stuff, taken from
my own collection of soundboard tapes.
Blissfulviolet:  You have had an interesting career while in Impaled Nazarene; everything
from law suits, death, being banned for Satanism to name a few…what keeps you going and
how do does the band deal with some of this negativity?
Slutti666:  Maybe all this misery and bullshit we have faced keeps us going even stronger.
Any publicity is good publicity as they say. But, at the same time, when it starts to affect your
finances (concert cancellations) it does kick you directly in the head. This band lives to play
live, it is the salt of life for us, and it is the best thing in the world.  You just forget all the crap
when you are on stage!
Blissfulviolet:  Throughout the years, Impaled Nazarene has sometimes gone back to using
corpse paint on certain occasions.  When the band has performed with corpse paint do you
notice anything different in the band or in the crowd?   Do you feel it adds to the essence of a
performance?
Slutti666:  We have done it a very few times and those have been occasions when it was just
done as a special thing, like for example at the publishing party of a book about the Finnish
heavy metal scene.  Corpse paint had some significance maybe in 1991 to us, nowadays it
means jackshit.
Blissfulviolet:  So Impaled Nazarene
won’t use corpse paint in the near future?
Slutti666:  I do not see that coming soon.
Blissfulviolet:  Back in 2004 at a show,
someone spiked your drink and it left you
unconscious and practically half dead
but you still performed.   What went
through you mind? Do you remember
anything or even found out who did this?
Slutti666:  I remember two things. One
being when a Russian security guy gave me smelling salt and I puked out my guts. And I
remember maybe 20 seconds or so being at stage thinking "I will die tonight". That’s it. It was a
fucking awful experience.
Blissfulviolet:  Sometimes the media or fans can interpret things in the wrong way.  What do
you feel is Impaled Nazarene's biggest misconception?
Slutti666:  What irritates the living fuck out of us is the fact that some assholes try to
pigeonhole Impaled Nazarene as a political band. That is just utter fucking bullshit.
Blissfulviolet:  What influences Impaled Nazarene? How do you view today's metal scene and
what do you hope for the future of Impaled Nazarene?
Slutti666:  We grew up with 80´s and early 90´s metal. Modern metal means nothing to me, I
just don´t get it. When I listen to music, I go for old vinyls of Slayer, Carnivore, Kreator, The
Exploited, Napalm Death, Death, Iron Maiden and so on. Best thing to happen in 2007 for
metal is the fact that somebody put out on CD Soothsayer (Canada) demo tape To Be A Real
Terrorist!
Blissfulviolet:  Thanks for doing the interview, any final comments for Impaled Nazarene fans
or newcomers?
Slutti666:  Drink vodka and be free!
Thanks,
Mika.
The Finnish nuclear metal warriors, Impaled Nazarene have been releasing their raw,
diverse, thrash, crust punk- black metal for 17 years now.   Nothing much has
changed ever since and the band proves to be stronger then ever with their latest
offering,
Manifest.
