Liv Kristine: The tour has been a fantastic
experience for us. It's wonderful to see that we have
a good and fast-growing fan base in the States and
Canada. Some of the highlights were San Diego, St.
Paul, all the Canadian shows, Worcester, N.Y.,
Houston to mention only a few...however, it's so hard
Blissfulviolet: Interestingly, you and your husband plus his band Atrocity make
the Leaves’ Eyes lineup. How did the idea for this collaboration come about and
is their a significance behind the name Leaves’ Eyes?
Liv Kristine: Enter my religion is the most personal album I have ever released. It is an invitation into my own life
and personal world. I am so happy I got the chance to do this. It is a very important part of my life.Today, when I
Take a listen to it, I realize how deep the words go. Everything comes from the heart.
Liv Kristine: I would love to have more children
and write children's books, next to music and
lyrics. I'd love to live by the ocean in a little house
with the mountains not far away. If I should
Liv Kristine: Yes, we have made shots from every place we have played this year. Maybe you will discover
yourself on our up-coming DVD. It will be out after the summer 2007. It will be just like a Leaves' Eyes movie.
Liv Kristine: That is true. I moved to Germany about ten years ago, and I am very happy here, especially as we
live in a Nature safety area with only a few (but very nice) neighbors and many cats. However, I do miss the ocean
and the powerful nature in Norway. We will surely move back one day. That's a dream. Moreover, my son has to
know his Norwegian roots.

Needing no introduction, Liv Kristine is a goddess when it comes to female fronted
goth metal bands. Her previous work with Theatre of Tragedy, will always remain
unforgettable but her current visionary endeavors with Leaves’ Eyes are legendary.
Kristine, along with the help of her husband and his band mates of Atrocity, have
recreated Liv’s childhood memories and old Norse Tales with their latest release,
Vinland Saga. I was able to meet Liv after one of her Texas performances and had
the opportunity to ask her a few questions, when she returned from tour. She
remains busy and enthusiastic, about the past, future and dreams of living by the
ocean in a house close to the mountains…
Blissfulviolet Greetings Liv, Thanks for taking the
time to answer my questions. The Leaves' Eyes
North American tour has just come to an end. How
was the overall tour? And what were some of the
highlights?
Blissfulviolet: So what’s on the agenda for Leaves’ Eyes now? I’ve read news of a possible DVD in the making?
to chose. The whole tour has been amazing! We are so grateful towards our fans, Blind Guardian and the crew,
who made this tour become an unforgettable experience for everybody!
Blissfulviolet: Sounds Interesting. Now lets talk a little about some of Leaves' Eyes releases. The Legend Land
EP was released about a year after Vinland Saga. Does this EP follow in the footsteps of the Leif Erikson theme?
And can you elaborate as to why you chose this particular theme for Vinland Saga?
Liv Kristine: Yes, the Legend Land is a continuation of the Vinland Saga album, however going more into
details concerning the Viking's stay in North America, what they faced there, why the left and headed back to
Norway a.s.o. I've always been interested in history and also historical linguistics. Moreover, in Norway we do
learn a lot about the Vikings at school.
Blissfulviolet: Leaves’ Eyes has a unique sound compared to other bands
that incorporate the use of female and male vocals. How would you describe
Leaves’ Eyes sound and what could one expect at a live show?
Liv Kristine: At a Leaves' Eyes show you will have a very clear but bombastic
and powerful sound. The visual also plays a very important role in our
performance. My red dress from the Elegy-Video has done a couple of hundred
shows, though. Poor dress. I'm amazed that it is still looking good as it is made of
silk and much longer than myself.
Liv Kristine: After finishing my master degree at the university of
Stuttgart/Germany I was eager to continue writing in a poetic way, thus I started
to write a concept and a couple of lyrics. The guys of Atrocity, who are also my
best friends, really liked it and together we started to compose music for my
words. Leaves' Eyes is a name that reminds you about my own first name...and
the second part refers to my husband's amazement for my eyes...
Blissfulviolet: Aside from Leaves’ Eyes, your second solo album Enter My Religion was released not too long
ago. How did that recording process go and were you satisfied with its final outcome?
Blissfulviolet: In several interviews you’ve mentioned that you gave birth to your son Leon just hours before the
completion of Leaves’ Eyes debut album Lovelorn, and since then have felt a stronger bond with nature and your
homeland of Norway. You have also grown homesick. Do you ever plan to move back?
Blissfulviolet: From your past work with Theatre
of Tragedy to your solo project, to recording with
other artists and creating Leaves’ Eyes; you’ve
come a long way and have made a name for
yourself. Aside from music do you have other
dreams or goals that you wish to one day fulfill?
happen to earn a lot of money one day, I will help children. I am lucky. I had a wonderful and secure childhood. I
only want to give some of this happiness to other people, through my own art and in whatever possible way I can.
To help other people is real happiness to me. There is nothing more beautiful than a child's smile.
