- Christian Terror
This record is not a great production lets start off with that. But it holds true
to its black metal influences. I absolutely have to say that I enjoyed all the
extra sound effects and sound clips put into this effort. It gave a lot of extra
life and something extra and unique to this “Christian Terror” record. I
would say the weakest track on this record would have to be the first track
“Doctrina Evangelina” and the strongest would have to be the title track
“Christian Terror”.
Nodens definitely gives something a bit more than a typical black metal
band. The vocals are done very well and are extremely strong. The guitar
work is not fancy but the riffs definitely pull you in and make you want to
listen some more. The drums with the exception of the first song are
absolutely exceptional. Strong beats, odd changes, and continuous battery
probably have this guy exhausted after a live performance. “Christian
Terror” is a four song EP of classic black metal proportions.
The reason for this is that “Christian Terror” I feel sounds the best
production wise and it also doesn’t hurt that it is my personal favorite from
the EP. The reason for the first track being the weakest is simply that the
drums are too repetitive throughout the entire song. I can tell that it is done
purposefully though because on the other songs there are plenty of
changes in the drum attacks. Each song on the album gets stronger and
stronger as you listen.
Strangely the copy I have in my possession has a completely different
cover from the one presented on the band’s myspace but either way both
covers are very detailed and interesting to stare at. Nodens is definitely one
of my personal favorite bands from Texas and anybody that has a chance
to catch this band live or get this record should.
