Blissfulviolet:  Greetings…Jonna, How are you and things in Sweden?
Jonna:  Hey, I'm fine thanks for asking. Sweden is heading towards summer at the moment.
The sleepy colours of winter fade fast in the dawn of spring.
Blissfulviolet:  Thanks for doing this interview. What have you and The Project Hate
MCMXCIX been up to?
Jonna:  It's my pleasure. A lot of things are happening with Project Hate MCMXCIX at the
moment! We're in the finishing stages of completing our new album. Everyone is really excited
about this. This album will be a monster in every way.
Blissfulviolet:  How has the new album been coming along? What can you tell me so far
about it?
Jonna:  I only sing in this band so I don't actually have that much to say about the process. I
enter the studio for a couple of days and record my vocals, and then I'm done. But from what I
know, and from having contact with K and everyone else in the band, everything is going
fucking awesome to say the least. As planned and even better. Now we are heading for the
last stages. This is where the hard and sometimes most difficult work begins.
Blissfulviolet:  You have been a vocalist for The Project Hate for over 4 years now. How did
you get involved in this band?
Jonna:  Me and K actually met on the net. He found a website with some of my own music and
contacted me. The rest is history. But I think it's safe to say that we hit it off immediately.
Blissfulviolet:  What do you enjoy the most about
being part of The Project Hate?
Jonna:  I enjoy the fact that everything is so
experimental and full of creativity with Project Hate
MCMXCIX. Everyone who participates really loves what
they're creating and elaborate together. And I love that
I can create so much in terms of my vocals, I don't have
any restrictions. I can just run wild. I wouldn't want to put
time and effort into a band if I couldn't contribute with
something that is totally mine. Fortunate for me K likes
almost everything I do. I think it comes down to that we
understand each other. I understand K's vision and I
also love it.
Blissfulviolet:  It's been known for many years that the
Project Hate does not tour. What makes the band stick
so firmly to this decision?
Jonna:  Well, that question is probably the most
common one. I don't know, no one in the band seems to
complain. We live in different parts of the country and we're also very much involved in other
projects beside Project Hate MCMXCIX so that's a big issue I guess.
Blissfulviolet:  How does that band go about creating new songs?
Jonna:  That is totally K's territory. He comes up with all the ideas, melodies and all that stuff.
With a few exceptions.
Blissfulviolet:  You also have a solo project called Siren On. What can you tell me about it?
Jonna:  Yeah, my solo project. It's something I have been longing to do for so many years. But
I haven't worked hard enough before I think. Writing your own material and producing your on
music is not the easiest thing to do. It takes a huge amount of discipline and hard work. But I
feel I'm almost there. Gee, you continuously have to work and learn.
Blissfulviolet:  I love how you mentioned that, "Siren On" is like a scrapbook with images and
melodies" can you elaborate more on this concept.
Jonna:  Ah, you mentioned that. What I mean is that "Siren On" basically is as much a visual
project as it is a sound project. When I write music I always have these images in my head that
sets the mood for me. I visualize them in my head and I try to express it through music. All the
melodies and vocals come from a place… Like a diary or a scrapbook you might say.
Something that I constantly keep with me and take inspiration from.
Interview with: Jonna Enckell
By: Blissfulviolet
Blissfulviolet:  What
inspired you to
become a singer?
Jonna:  I have no
idea to be honest, I
always saw myself just
playin' piano. I started
to sing in these rock
bands in high school,
mainly singing for fun
and for the hell of it.
After a couple of years
I think I got the
confidence to take my singing more seriously. I began to see myself as someone who could
use my voice and create something with it. But it's kinda funny, I still don't see myself as a
singer really.
Blissfulviolet:  What are some hobbies you enjoy doing outside The Project Hate and Siren
On?
Jonna:  I love to hang out with my friends, do all sorts of stuff with them. Going to concerts,
listening to music, partying. Relaxing when I'm not working and just enjoy the small things in
life. I dunno, read a good book, cook. Take long walks. I love the nature.
Blissfulviolet:  What would you consider to be one of your greatest moments with The Project
Hate?
Jonna:  Every time we enter the studio. It's such a fucken blast! I'm so fortunate to be able to
work with these guys. It's a dream come true for me.
Blissfulviolet:  Any final comments?
Jonna:  I would just like to address the fans of Project Hate MCMXCIX. I can't tell you how
much it means to read and take part of what the fans have to say everyday on the forums etc.
That is fucken priceless. Project Hate MCMXCIX have truly the best and most dedicated fans.
Thanks for the interview.
Take care and keep up the hate!
/Love Jo
I’ve been a Project Hate fan since their "Cybersonic Superchrist"
release in 2000.  This band is amazing; they mix metal with raw
industrialized elements and add death metal growls and angelic
female vocals that create the perfect metal masterpiece.  I was
excited to ask female vocalist, Jonna Enckell about The Project
Hate’s upcoming new album, "In Hora Mortis Nostrae."
