Interview with Ghatanathoa By: Blissfulviolet

Blissfulviolet: Greetings how are you? And what has To Scale the Throne been up to lately?
Ghatanathoa: TSTT has been up to a lot this year so far. As some of the fans have seen already we have a
stronger more intense line-up, and we are now a three piece instead of a five. The current line-up that we have is
as follows: CmLord-Drums, he is not new to the scene at all. CmLord has played in the following bands: Necrotic
Void, Slum Lords, and Funeral Rites just to name a few. Priest- is on guitar; he was on bass in the old line-up.
Ghatanathoa-Bass/Vocals. Now that TSTT is stronger than it ever has been, we have been writing a lot of new
songs for some upcoming releases.
Blissfulviolet: Let’s start by giving me some history of the band. How and when did you guys form To Scale the
Throne?
Ghatanathoa: Brief history?? Our history is anything but brief, but I’ll make it as short as I can. I (Ghatanathoa)
started this project back when I was around 14/15, it was just myself playing guitar/vocals and our old drummer
Mangled Corpse. We had been playing for several months, and decided to look for other musicians that had the
same interest. So after some short searching we found two more members. We stayed a four piece for a few
years until one of the guitarist decided to change his life and become a filthy Christian. When he left the other
followed, but didn’t pick up religion. Line-up changes year after year was getting old, I finally had a good line-up
and decided to record our self-titled demo. Then shit really started picking up faster and more chaotic the guys I
had for that line-up couldn’t stand the pressure, so they left as well. That leads us to the line-up TSTT had before
this current one. We were a five piece, in the back of my head I was telling myself “ it is finally complete.” With
the huge success of that line-up everything came more demanding and challenging, once again they couldn’t
handle the pressure. So now we are a three piece, myself being the only original member. Now with this new line-
up I can say “ WE ARE TO SCALE THE THRONE” and say it proud.

Blissfulviolet: How would you describe
the sound of To Scale the Throne?
Ghatanathoa: The sound that TSTT
vomits out is a sound of its’ own. However
if I had to compare us to other bands they
would be: Tsjuder, Mayhem, Darkthrone,
Hellhammer etc.
Blissfulviolet: You guys will be playing a
few shows with Demoncy and Crimson
Moon. Are you psyched about those
upcoming shows? How did this particular
tour come up?
Ghatanathoa: Yes, that is correct we
have some shows coming up with
Demoncy and Crimson Moon, and we are
psyched. We have played with CM several times before, and we have played shows with Demoncy’s side project
Tenebrous. My good friend Chris from Hate War Productions called me about the shows.
Blissfulviolet: What do you think of the Texas metal scene? How does the bands home town of Houston, Texas
embrace To Scale the Throne?
Ghatanathoa: The Texas metal scene, well we have played many shows through out Texas and each city has its
own pros and cons, over all it is very good. The bands here in Houston have many different opinions about TSTT
some good some bad, and honestly it doesn’t matter what they think. We do what we want, how we want and
whenever the hell we want. If those bands don’t fucking like it, they can take their separate ways from what we do,
and have nothing to do with us ever again.
Blissfulviolet: What can one expect at a live To Scale the Throne show?
Ghatanathoa: Blood, violence, and lots of beer drinking. Each show will be different from the previous.
Blissfulviolet: What types of lyrical concepts are
present in To Scale the Thrones music?
Ghatanathoa: My lyrics have many different
influences. They can range from movies and books,
religion, history, and personal experiences that I may
have encountered.
Blissfulviolet: What do you find most enjoyable
about being in To Scale the Throne?
Ghatanathoa: I can’t say that this is the most
enjoyable thing but it is what has meant so much to
me. Brotherhood and friendship. In the past years I
have met a lot of people from many different places
and different bands.
Blissfulviolet: What shall we expect in the near future from To Scale the Throne?
Ghatanathoa: Like I said earlier we have a few new releases coming up, a DVD and of course live shows.
Blissfulviolet: Any Final Comments?
Ghatanathoa: Thanks for the interview, and support the fucking underground!! SEE YOU IN HELL!!!
Hailing from Houston, Texas, To Scale the Throne is stronger than
ever. The three piece black metal band has been working on some
new releases and a DVD. Ghatanathoa gave us all the details on
