Interview with Alonzo Garza
By: Blissfulviolet
Blissfulviolet:  Tell me how Xapharon formed.
Alonzo:  Xapharon originally formed under the
name Mortridan in 2003, but of course
interesting events occured, members changed
and Xapharon formed with original members
John Soto drums, Jason Galvan guitars ,
Alonzo Garza keyboards and Robert
Hernandez guitars. Robert soon left for a
prison sentence for arson in 2005 and Henry
Elizondo entered as bass. Robert Hernandez
returned to Xapharon recently and the
onslaught continues.
Blissfulviolet:  The band is currently seeking
a new vocalist. What types of characteristics
are you seeking?
Alonzo:  Singers tend to believe the world rotates around them even though they rarely have
anything to offer. The basic characteristics we want are good vocals and attitude.
Blissfulviolet:  Will not having a vocalist put the band on hold for performing live shows?
Alonzo:  Not at all, we've played shows without singers constantly and it has never caused any
problems. If anything we have had better audience reactions for focusing on our music.
Blissfulviolet:  Describe the bands sound? What are
some of the bands influences?
Alonzo:  Epic, Extreme Black Metal, our influences
range from Windir, Dark Funeral, Arcturus, Myrkskog,
Emperor, Mirrorthrone, Death, Zyklon, Ulver, Hate
Eternal, Rush and the list goes on.
Blissfulviolet:  The band has released some
interesting demos. What can you tell me about them,
and who did the cover art for you guys?
Alonzo:  Our demos show the evolution of the band.
From the raw sounding music of 2003 to the 2006 Epic
Extreme Music of 2006. It reflects our maturity as the
years have passed. All of our artwork for Xapharon and
its album covers are done by our keyboardist Alonzo
Garza.
Blissfulviolet:  Hailing from Corpus Christi, Texas,
What the scene like there? From what I found, Xapharon
is the only black metal band there.
Alonzo:  Trends dominate here in south Texas. When we first began the scene was mainly
nu-metal and punk-emo. Then hard-core came and everybody wanted to start a
hard-core/metal-core/brutal band. We remain defiant of the trends and will always continue to
play extreme epic black metal.
Blissfulviolet:  What types of goals has the band set for the rest of 2007?
Alonzo:  Continue to offend, promote of Aztec/ Maya Meso-American Heritage and also finish
recording our new album, which will be a compilation of past and present xapharon material.
Blissfulviolet:  Describe Xapharon using one word.
Alonzo:  Epic.
Blissfulviolet:  Any final comments?
Alonzo:  DESTROY EMO'S.
Aztec black fucking metal!  Xapharon of Corpus Christi, Texas
continue to spread the word of the Maya Meso-American Heritage
through their music.  The band is currently out of a singer, but that
has never stopped the band from performing, they are stronger
than ever.
